Living and working – that is what the UpperNord Quarter will offer. On the northern edge of Dusseldorf’s city centre a new city quarter is being built until 2023. The area of more than 12,000 m² extends between Mercedesstrasse, Münsterstrasse and Grashofstrasse.

      The capital of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is one of the most significant, internationally connected economic centres in Germany and the most popular location for foreign investment. Dusseldorf is booming in terms of both its population and the labour market; and with 612,000 inhabitants and counting, it is the second largest city in NRW. Consequently, this River Rhine metropolis is a great site for such a neighbourhood development project as the UpperNord Quarter, where privately financed and funded residency, retail, office space and nursery and hospitality services can come together at one location.

The diverse range of housing offered includes subsidised rental apartments, low-cost housing construction and privately financed apartments in modern city villas. An underground car park for residents is also planned. In addition, a day-care centre with a spacious and child-friendly outdoor area as well as high-quality landscaped outdoor areas for shared use will be realised. For local supply there will be a building with commercial and restaurant areas. Future residents will thus benefit from a “city of short distances” as well as from the location’s favourable transport links and its excellent connections to the city centre, trade fair, airport and surrounding area. With the UpperNord Quarter, a modern urban quarter is being created: intelligent, ecological and future-oriented.

      The neighbourhood of Dusseltal is part of District 2 in Dusseldorf and is one of the city’s more upscale residential areas. The area lies in the direct vicinity of the zoo and, as such, is often affectionately referred to as the Zooviertel (zoo district) by the locals.
